The practitioner certificate in AI governance for board directors
4SC is the Four Signals Certificate, a 12-hour practitioner credential in AI governance for board directors and board-ready executives, issued by Reed Group Consulting LLC. 4SC designates holders of the Four Signals Certificate — a practitioner methodology for assessing how organizations govern AI at the physical-digital boundary.
Four modules. Twelve hours. (Some waived for NACD.D, ICD.D, QRM, and other relevant credential holders.) Each module builds on the last — from governance theory to applied methodology to board mechanics to live crisis simulation.
Every governance question in the program traces back to one of four dimensions. Organizations that cannot answer all four are ungoverned — regardless of how many policies they have on file.
Who is accountable for each AI system in production, and do they know it?
What data, systems, and decision points are touched by AI, and who can see them?
Where does the AI decide, where does the human decide, and is that boundary written down?
If an AI system fails in a way that causes harm, what happens in the first four hours?
4SC is not a compliance checklist or a vendor-led awareness course. It is a governance certificate for people with board-level accountability — or those building toward it.
